Data Recovery: What is it about?

The computer is one of the things one can never do without. People type and save documents in it, prepare presentations and send mail to friends and family.

Unexpectedly, while working one day in the office, the computer crashed. The screen blacked out and the computer will no longer start. The biggest concern of most people in this situation is if there is a chance to recover those files.

There are times that the person is able to recover these files. The individual should be aware of two types of problems that commonly happen to the computer. The first could be something wrong with the software. The other could be the hardware which involves having this serviced in the shop.

When faced with a software problem, there are three options that are available.

The first will be to try and fix the problem using the repair function that comes with the operating system. Customers will get this whenever buying operating systems either from Microsoft or Apple.

The second will be calling the computer technician to remove the hard drive and transferring the data somewhere else first while installing a new operating system into the computer.

This usually takes an hour depending on how skilled the professional is. Afterwards, the person’s computer will be as good as new and work can be done again. The person should be ready to have some cash since this usually costs something like $200 or less which the professional will charge for the services rendered.

The third option will be buying some data recovery software from the internet. There are a lot of these in the market that can be purchased for less than $100.

The person should just download this and save it to another source to recover the deleted file. This is because the document that the individual wishes to save may be corrupted should this be stored in the same place.

These three options usually take place during worse case scenarios. The lesson that people can learn from such as experience will be to always backup these files. Some people can save this in a WinZip file while others save this to another drive.

This is the best way to protect the important documents in the event that a virus or any other problem may happen to the computer.

There are also some individuals who accidentally delete or send the document to the recycle bin. When this happens, all the person has to do is simply click on the icon then have the file restored to the original folder.

Should the file no longer be in the recycle bin, there is still a chance that the lost document still exists. Unfortunately, this can only happen if the person experienced this problem in the office.

Why? Because most offices uses a network and the information from each unit is stored in a larger computer in the company. The person in charge of keeping the computers running in the office known as a system administrator may be able to retrieve the lost file.

Most computers either desktop or laptops will crash. People call this wear and tear and usually happen after two years of use. The person can have the unit checked for preventive maintenance and have some recovery system installed in the computer.
